The electrical output performance of photovoltaic (PV) modules are sensitive to temperature variations and the intensity solar irradiance under prolonged exposure. Only 20% is converted into useful electricity, remaining dissipated as heat which in turns increases module operating temperature. increase has an adverse impact on open-circuit voltage (Voc), results power conversion efficiency reduction irreversible cell degradation rate. Hence, proper cooling methods essential maintain within standard test conditions (STC). This paper presents overview passive for its feasibility economic viability comparison with active cooling. Three different approaches considered, namely phase change material (PCM), fin sink, radiative covering discussions achieved efficiency. understanding above-mentioned state-of-the-art technologies vital further modifications existing PV improve output.
